Annual Folk Art Festival
Seale, Alabama
Butch Anthony, Artist
2003 to present
This rural art and music festival takes over Butch's family's farm for one weekend every year. It's a time for getting together, getting down, and getting creative. The folks at Doonanny form a collaborative community that has left its mark on the farm: A communal outdoor kitchen, hand-pumped hot-water showers, and a series of art shacks.
DBA helped create the stages and several festival buildings, including the bicycle dome and the annual Doonanny Burn structure. This year, we began construction of a collection of luxury safari shacks and Texas Art Museum that will open in March 2012.
